Ask for the whole payment schedule

Request the written tuition schedule, the billing period and the number of paid weeks. A weekly rate multiplied by 52 is a budgeting convention; it does not tell you how a particular provider bills holidays, vacations or closures.

Ask whether meals, diapers, supplies, outings and extended hours are included. Compare the same hours and services across providers before comparing the totals.

Separate ongoing costs from up-front cash

Registration fees, waitlist fees, deposits and the first tuition payment may arrive together. Ask which amounts are refundable, when they are due, and whether a deposit is credited toward the final weeks of care.

Keep a first-month cash budget beside your annual tuition budget. Record actual quotes rather than assuming a county median includes these charges.

Put the cancellation rules in writing

Find out the required notice period, whether you pay while your child is absent, and how rate changes are announced. Ask how a move into the next age room affects tuition.

A lower advertised rate may come with a shorter day or fewer included services. Use the county estimate as a starting point, then choose based on the complete arrangement.
