Current New Mexico update

New Mexico now describes universal child care without income limits. Use the current ECECD application rather than the historical income screen.

Initial eligibility threshold, gross monthly income
Family sizeMonthlyAnnual equivalent
3 people$8,607$103,284
4 people$10,400$124,800

Published initial income screening limits. Current policy, local rules, eligible activities, assets, child age and available funding also matter.

Compare your household income

Copays are a separate part of the picture.

The same January 2025 report lists maximum monthly family copayments of $430 for a family of three and $520 for a family of four in New Mexico.

These are maximums reported under those plans, not a quote for your family. Waivers, income bands, local schedules and provider charges can change what a family pays. Some states had temporary compliance waivers in the source period.

Use the current application.

Check current income rules, which income counts, work or education requirements, child age, documentation and funding availability. The state can explain rules for family sizes beyond the two shown in the federal table.
